Libraries SIG Webinar – Lessons from the Library: Critical Information Literacy and the International School Library: What It Is and How to Teach It: 09 April
15:00 (London time)
Hosted by the ECIS Library and Information Services Special Interest Group
Presenter: Gabriella Reyes
This webinar explores how educators can empower students to critically navigate today’s complex information landscape. CIL emphasises understanding the socio-political contexts, power dynamics, and biases behind information creation and dissemination—essential skills in a globalized world. This presentation highlights the challenges of addressing cultural and linguistic diversity in international education and provides actionable strategies for incorporating CIL into libraries, including collection development and instruction. By integrating CIL into teaching practices, educators can foster critical thinking, global awareness, and ethical engagement with diverse perspectives, preparing students to become responsible global citizens.
