A knowledge-sharing initiative showcasing the positive impact on well-being, innovation, and belonging when schools actively incorporate student input in shaping their systems. By showcasing stories of successful student voice initiatives, Student Voice Stories: Amplifying Voices, Inspiring Action will inspire greater inclusion in schools, ultimately improving outcomes for all.
Background: In recent years, ACS has included student input in the shaping of school systems and learning space renovation, strengthening our pedagogical understanding and the practical application of incorporating student voice in various areas of our school. By seeking student input and actively involving them in decision-making processes, we ensure that their perspectives shape initiatives. In response to student feedback, we have collaborated with students to: – Replace our behavior plan with our Egham Community – Commitments, a set of student-created shared values – Implement Restorative Practice throughout the school Inclusively design and renovate two grade five classrooms
Objectives: Showcase through adult and student storytelling a range of successful student-driven initiatives at ACS Egham and in other international schools Highlight the importance of student voice and engagement in shaping school policies and culture Provide a platform for schools to share best practices in student voice and learn from each other.
