ECIS, in proud partnership with St Mary’s University, Twickenham, is launching a high-impact, year-long professional development opportunity: Researcher in Residence. Designed for educators who want to drive meaningful change through evidence-based practitioner research, this programme empowers schools to cultivate in-house expertise while fostering a culture of research-informed practice.

Programme Highlights

  • Exclusive partnership: ECIS and St Mary’s University are collaborating to bring academic rigour and practical relevance together.
  • ECIS facilitator: Rebecca Tickell, ECIS Lead, experienced educator and DPhil student at the University of Oxford. Read more via the registration link.
  • Academic recognition: The programme carries 30 Master’s-level credits from St Mary’s University, which can be applied towards their full MA pathway.
  • Residential launch: A one-week, in-person taught residential (23–27 June 2025) on the beautiful St Mary’s University campus.
  • Personalised experience: Only 12 places available, ensuring close mentorship and tailored support.
  • Expert guidance: Taught by leading academics from St Mary’s University, participants will learn how to develop their own research question aligned to their school’s priorities and conduct research at Master’s level.

Ongoing support: After the residential, participants will receive regular check-ins and coaching from both Rebecca Tickell and the St Mary’s academic team to guide them through project completion.

Target Audience: Forward-thinking educators—including teachers, middle leaders, and senior leaders—who want to lead research-informed change while contributing to the long-term growth and leadership development within their school.

Course Requirements:

  • Participants must be working in a school setting and have permission from their Headteacher, Principal or Director. Projects must be aligned with the school’s priorities. Applicants will normally be expected to possess a 2:2 degree from a UK university or equivalent qualification approved by St Mary’s University.
  • English Language instruction
  • The IELTs for postgraduate provision is 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component).
