ECIS PE Conference 2027: Moving Beyond | #ECISPE2027
Join us in Dresden, Germany, from 04-06 March 2027 for three days of learning, play and connection with PE educators from international schools around the world.
What happens when we move beyond the borders of traditional Physical Education? This year’s conference invites you to rethink what movement can mean, where it can happen, and who it is for. We will challenge the boundaries of what we have always done, and embrace new ideas, perspectives, spaces and possibilities that make movement more meaningful and accessible for every learner.
Through hands-on, active workshops, we will explore Authentic PE, Inclusion, Agency and Meaningful PE, Outdoor Education, and ways to extend learning and movement beyond the PE classroom. You will leave with fresh ideas to try in your own teaching, new connections across the international school community, and a renewed sense of what PE can be.
Whether you teach in a purpose-built sports hall or an urban school with limited space, this conference is about seeing your surroundings as opportunities rather than limitations.
Conference strands
- Meaningful PE: Making Movement Matter. Creating relevant, purposeful and authentic learning experiences that connect with students’ lives and build a lifelong relationship with movement.
- Agency: Putting Students in the Driver’s Seat. Using student voice, choice and ownership to turn students into active partners in their own learning.
- Beyond the Walls: Outdoor & Community Connections. Outdoor adventures, nature-based experiences, community connections and service learning that extend PE beyond the gym.
- Finding Balance: Wellness for You. Practical ways to support your own wellbeing, create healthy boundaries and rediscover the joy of movement.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS
We are delighted to launch the Call for Proposals for PE Conference 2027, taking place at Dresden International School from 04-06 March 2027. This year’s theme is Moving Beyond, and we can’t wait to review your proposals.
Choose your strand
Proposals should fit one of the four conference strands: Meaningful PE, Agency, Beyond the Walls, or Finding Balance. Each strand has prompts to help you shape your session, so look for the one that best matches your idea.
Session formats
- 60 minute interactive workshop or discussion
- 90 minute interactive workshop or discussion (more limited slots available)
What we are looking for
We review every submission to maintain high quality and to include a broad range of topics and perspectives that matter to our participants. Strong proposals:
- Explain how the session relates to the chosen conference theme and prompts
- Are clearly written, with acronyms explained and language suited to an international audience
- State what participants will gain and why they should attend
- Describe what the session is based on, such as a project, initiative or practice
- Offer a topic and format that participants will find relevant and engaging
Commercial proposals are welcome if they meet all of the above, clearly state which products are being demonstrated or discussed, and acknowledge the company’s role in the session. We recommend including school-based presenters.
Submitting your proposal
You will be asked to choose your target audience (Primary, Elementary, Middle or High), your preferred workshop space (Gym, Studio, Classroom or Fitness Centre), and any PE equipment you need.
