World Languages SIG Webinar: From Real-World Texts to Real Communication: Designing Speaking & Writing Tasks with Authentic Resources: 06 March
12:00 (London time)
Facilitator: Dr. Lori Langer de Ramirez
Hosted by: Delinka Fabiny and Martina Mencer Salluzzo (World Languages SIG co-chairs)
In this session, we will focus on the use of authentic resources for designing speaking and writing tasks for students at all levels of language proficiency. We will explore the Culture standards with attention to the three elements of culture: products, practices, and perspectives. Through specific examples, we will address the following questions: What are some of the elements of culture? Why is culture important in the language classroom? Where can we find authentic cultural materials? And what do we do once we find them? In reviewing the connections between and among the 3 Ps, we will consider ways in which the target language culture can come to life in your classroom.
