Join us to hear how student-led recycling starts off as merely sorting waste in learning spaces, but quickly becomes a powerful vehicle for learning with many benefits. Hands-on learning: real-world tasks spark questioning, critical thinking, and student agency. Partnership: facilities staff become valued mentors and collaborators, all teachers play a role Systems thinking: change happens through small tweaks, shared ideas, and iteration. Leadership & ownership: students drive the process, from planning to problem-solving Scalable model: applied successfully at large community events, empowering students beyond school Culture shift—builds respect, awareness, and a shared sense of responsibility This session is for educators, student leaders, and anyone curious about using recycling as a platform for learning, leadership, and change.
