Matt has been teaching high school IB English at Leysin American School in Switzerland for two years and has also taught in the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Canada, and South Korea. His Masters is in Educating for Critical and Creative Thinking. Matt’s action research focuses on adapting his practice to student inputs, towards improved teaching and learning of literary lenses/theories in grade 11 and 12 IB Lang Lit classes. Matt will explore the peaks and valleys of his experience, with a focus on transferring the learning to other (international) contexts.
Moderator Hermione Paddle has been teaching for ten years at the Bavarian International School in Munich. She has taught MYP and DP English and Theory of Knowledge and has worked as Department Head and as the Assistant MYP Coordinator. She has done work for the IB in curriculum development for the Extended Essay and produced resources for IB Exchange. Her Masters is in Literacy and she is currently completing her PhD at University College London exploring interdisciplinary learning in international schools.
