The Differentiation Trap: From Framework to Belonging: 27 May
15:00 (London time)
Join us for a conversation with Lucía Marmolejo Jiménez, M.Ed. and Sarah Kupke, designed for educators who want to think more deeply about teaching with care, purpose, and intention. Grounded in three connected themes, this session will explore how differentiation can become a language of belonging, how AI can help return time and joy to teaching, and how curriculum can shape character as well as content.
In our story-driven conversation, we will consider what it means to move beyond differentiation as a checklist and toward practices that help students feel seen, supported, and valued. We will explore how AI can ease the weight of planning and administration, giving teachers back time and energy for the work that matters most. We will reflect on curriculum as a mirror for student growth, asking how learning experiences can meet academic standards while also supporting character development; in all subject areas.

This session is relevant for classroom teachers, EAL specialists, coordinators, and school leaders. Participants will leave with practical ideas, a broader perspective on the teacher’s role, and a renewed sense of how everyday choices about building relationships in the classroom, shape students’ learning and lives.

Lucía Marmolejo Jiménez, M.Ed. is an IB educator and EAL Coordinator at an international school in Istanbul, where she has taught for nearly two decades. She is the author of the book, The Differentiation Trap: From Framework to Belonging and the founder of Educator Companion, an AI platform built to give teachers back the time they need to do the irreplaceable human work of teaching. Drawing on twenty years in the classroom and a deep commitment to the relational heart of education, she writes and speaks about what teaching becomes when AI carries the weight of logistics and teachers are free to do what only they can do: see, know, and reach each student.
